What your Role is:

The Design Director partners with group creative directors and account management to create the vision of strategic branding solutions that perform successfully in the marketplace. The Design Director role involves the ability to be a creative team leader and brand keeper while professionally servicing clients, building business relationships, representing design leaders and influencing CBX culture.

What your Responsibilities could include, but are not limited to:

EXTERNAL

Client Consultation

  • Provides client with distinct point of view on brand ‘s position in marketplace, competitive point of difference, creative strategies, how to target audience, & opportunity for building brand awareness
  • Expert in category & trends, knowledge of competitive set, develops category analysis that clearly connects to creative direction
  • Demonstrates consistent ability to diagnose brand problem & how to address
  • Ability to recommend creative development that addresses equity analysis, brand segmentation, & asset management

Relationship Building/Maintaining

  • Builds client relationship with client services partner
  • In person meeting attendance for any major presentation (requires travel)
  • Strategic brand consultant to client, owning a point of view - trusted advisor
  • Growth of new business opportunities, selling 'up' - always looking for ways to surprise & delight client

INTERNAL

Creative Excellence & Vision

  • Partners with creative director(s) in maintaining overall creative standard of excellence for CBX
  • Contributes & inspires overall vision & culture of design group
  • Partners with creative director, senior client services director, strategy & senior management in oversight of creative vision & development for our clients & their brands

Strategic Vision

  • Partners with strategy & client services in setting strategic vision for brand programs
  • Develops creative brief in collaboration with client services partner
  • Inspires team & leads design kick-off meetings
  • Conducts engaging ideation sessions (brainstorms / sketch sessions / workshops)
  • Builds phase 1 presentation content & brand story

Management & Direction of Designers

  • Responsible for daily management of designers & design teams in terms of creative output, timeliness, and resourcing
  • Delegation of designer role & responsibilities (setting up for success, etc.)
  • Daily design direction & inspiration to designers, assuring the meeting of client objectives, as well as thought provoking solutions
  • Determines readiness of work for client presentations with client services partner & strategy

Staff Career Mentoring

  • Creates career opportunities for designers, coaches & mentors
  • Participates designer performance reviews

Financial

  • Awareness of proposals / budgets & fiscally responsible for adherence & meeting of
  • Manages designer hours & deliverables agreed upon

CBX Health

  • Supports, maintains, & contributes to CBX protocols & processes
  • Maintains CBX culture throughout group & company
 
Position Requirements

A few Qualifications that will help:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in a related field preferred
  • 7+ years work experience in related field
  • Knowledge of brands and their categories. Provides ability to reinvigorate, change and challenge norms while offering unique insights
  • Knowledge of marketing plans for brands, strong category awareness and trends in the marketplace
